Youth party-list kicks off campaign with ‘Balagtasan’

LIWASANG BONIFACIO, MANILA- Unlike the traditional campaigning during election season, KABATAAN Party-list kicked off its campaign today with an ‘old but new’ form. Hailed as ‘Makabagong Balagtasan ng KABATAAN: Ito ang Dapat Pag-usapan Ngayong Halalan,’ nominees and members did the ‘rap-balagtasan’ to convey E4ALL:

1. Education and employment;
2. End tyranny and corruption;
3. Environment and national patrimony; and
4. Empowerment and equality

The said issues, according to the youth group, are the topics that should be discussed during elections (below is the copy of the Balagtasan).

E4all is also KABATAAN’s campaign platform for the 2010 elections.

Participants in the campaign rally then commenced with a whole-say motorcade around Metro Manila.

Regions

KABATAAN’s chapters in different regions, provinces and cities also opened the official campaign period with various activities.

In Baguio City, members held ‘KABATAAN Fest’ at the Malcolm Square. Meanwhile, KABATAAN Party-list in Panay released doves and balloons while Southern Tagalog, Negros, and Davao City chapters held grand caravans to declare KABATAAN Party-list’s intent to continue its service to the people in all possible means, including the parliamentary.

Three seats

KABATAAN Party-list is the first and only youth party-list group in the House of Representatives today. It remains at the forefront of youth and students’ campaigns against unabated tuition and miscellaneous fee increases, for higher state subsidy for education, adequate jobs for new graduates, the defense and recognition of human rights and civil liberties which include consumer rights and the right to health, and the protection and conservation of national patrimony. Currently, respected youth leader and blogger Raymond ‘Mong’ Palatino represents KABATAAN in the Philippine Congress.

The youth party-list is aiming for three seats on May 2010. ###

Bawat hakbang nami’y, patungong pagbabago.

Pagbabago, pagbabago, pagbabagong totoo

PAWIIN ANG KATIWALIAN AT TIRANYA (End Corruption and Tyranny)

SERBISYONG PANLIPUNAN (Education and Employment)

PANGALAGAAN ANG KALIKASA’T PAMBANSANG PATRIMONYA (Environment and National Patrimony)

Upang yaring saganang biyaya

PAGKAKAPANTAY-PANTAY (Empowerment and Equality)
