Kabataan Party-list Representative Raymond “Mong” Palatino today made an appeal to his colleagues planning to attend the Pacquaio-Cotto fight to skip the said bout.

“Kung inaalay ni Pacquiao ang laban niya para sa mga nasalanta, dapat ding isaisip ng mga kongresista ang kapakanan ng mga mamamayan,” he said.

The youth solon said the solons’ insistence to go to Las Vegas at a time when many of our kababayans are still recovering from the recent typhoons reveal their insensitivity and lack of delicadeza.

“Inaantabayan ng publiko ang laban ni Pacquiao dahil nag-aabang sila ng magandang balita, lalo na ngayong nahaharap ang bayan sa samu’t saring problema. Huwag naman sana nilang bahiran ng masamang balita at nakakarinding balita ng luho at di makatuwirang gastos sa panahong naghihirap ang mamamayan,” Palatino said.

Palatino said the attendance by these solons in Plenary sessions is very crucial during this time since the election season is nearing. “Most of the congressmen are expected to be busy campaigning rather than do their jobs. House members should endeavor a perfect attendance at least before the election season starts,” he said.

The 29-year-old lawmaker said the congressmen should instead donate the money they plan to spend for he relief and rehabilitation of calamity victims. ##
