Kabataan Party-list Rep. Mong Palatino expresses his deepest condolences to the family of People Power icon and former President Corazon Aquino.

Kabataan Party-list is one with the youth, the nation and the world in mourning the death of a moral leader who fought for democracy during the turbulent times of the Marcos regime and who continued to fight tyranny and corruption up to the event of her death.

We challenge President Gloria Arroyo to emulate Mrs. Aquino and step down after her term, a courageous and rightful act that Mrs. Aquino did during her last year in office.

We urge the youth to continue vigilance against corruption and fraud. It is the vigilance of the youth against Marcos’ fraud and tyranny that helped Mrs. Aquino, through People Power, topple the dictatorship. We call on the youth to once again fulfill the historic role this coming 2010 elections.

Amid these times of unbridled corruption and mistrust in government leaders, Mrs. Aquino’s example will serve as an inspiration to the youth. To the end, Mrs. Aquino was in solidarity with the people in the fight against the current administration’s brazen corruption, electoral fraud and charter change. ##
