April 28 is Blog Action Day
According to a recent study by the IBON Foundation, 7 out of every 10 graduates this year will be jobless. As a result of the lack of jobs in the past years, they will be competing against unemployed graduates from previous years.
Those fortunate enough to land jobs have their own “horror stories” to tell: work that is unrelated to their field of study, lack of job security and benefits, unhealthy working conditions, etc.
Many of us have joined the millions of Filipinos who have left their families and their homeland to seek a living abroad. Many of us also plan to follow in the coming months and years.
And now, even the so-called ‘sunshine industry, the BPO industry, is being plagued with the streamlining of applicants. The recent mandatory entrance exams will affect those competing for 50,000 jobs offered in the said industry.
On April 28, let us share our experiences, thoughts, opinions, analyses, and solutions to the seemingly perpetual problem of unemployment in our country. Let us collectively raise our voices on that day and demand, especially to those running on May 10, real solutions to this problem. Let’s make April 28 Blog Action Day for Jobs for New Graduates.
